NSASA OAU PRESIDENT'S WELCOME ADDRESS

NIGERIAN SOCIOLOGY AND ANTHROPOLOGY STUDENTS ASSOCIATION, OAU CHAPTER

Greatest reformers! Articulate reformers!! It is our pleasure to dearly welcome freshmen and satalites to (ogba femi, Oba awon universities), the citadel of learning and culture. OAU is indeed known for learning and culture, these two attributes makes it special, significant, and respectful in Nigeria, and Africa as a whole. Our brilliant lecturers can not be exempted from this glory, their impactations have  made us, built us, and giving us the independent mindset and boldness in the practical world. In term of technology, research, discipline, culture, architecture, OAU can not but take a lead in Africa.

MESSAGE TO FRESHERS

To our beloved freshers, we congratulates you once again on your admission into OAU, particularly, into the prestigious department, sociology and anthropology department. There are basics realities you must know, and adherence to them, will sustain you throughout your stay on campus.

Firstly, you must know that, your admission into OAU is by grace, we beg you, maximize this grace. Be ready to learn, and be diligent in all. Give priority to your academic. There are many things awaiting to catch your attention here on campus. You must be able to draw your scale of preference, and put them in order of importance. The Bible says, life and death has been set before you, but choose life. We beg you to choose your academic above all things, knowing fully well that, without your admission here on campus, you can not get involved in them.

Lean on God in all your endeavors. This aspect is very crucial. Have seen people who read all days, but still failed or have less to expectations, why have also seen people who read a little, lean on God rather than their understanding, and come out excellently. This part is not a reason for idleness in your study, but the point here is, lean on God. I could recall what our former President (Olaniyi Dare) told me, he said, only reading is not enough to succeed on this campus, but you need God.

Cultism, malpractice, assault to one another, and all other form of social vices are highly prohibited here, kindly run from such act or people of such, punishment allocated to this act is unforgivable.

Be free free to report any arrestment, treat from other students or any personal issue to excos or staff advisers. All our lecturers are fathers and mothers, don't allow anybody to scare you. None of them delight in your failure, nevertheless,  work hard.

Lastly, best students are not born, but they are made, the making is done by you. Choose to be the best today .

MESSAGE TO STALITES

The prize is not for the beginners, but for they that persevered to the end. Let's put more zeal to this race, let's not allow weariness to set in. There is no doubt that, effort can be frustrated. Frustration leads to weariness, and weariness can makes someone to give up. I pray that, this will not be our portion. If you didn't do well in part one, you can make it up in part two, if part two turned you down, part three and four can lift you. The point is, we must be diligent to the end.

Greatest reformers!  Articulate reformers!! We must work together to make NSASA OAU great again, this can not be achieved by apathy, our full participation is inevitable, therefore let's put personal interest aside, and put on the interest of the association, let's put on the garment of unity, we must not deviate from our motto : Quest for social reformation. At this point, we which you all a successful session. Thank you.
